Louisa Cotton, MPH, B.Sc.O.T.
Occupational Therapy and Public Health - 'Skills for the job of healthy living.'

I acknowledge that I live, work, learn, and play on the ancestral, unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) Nation. The Syilx people have stewarded this land for generations with a deep respect for its interconnected ecosystems, and it is my responsibility to honor their enduring relationship with the land.
Coming from England, where I grew up, and moving to BC, I have come to realize how much I still have to learn about Indigenous peoples and their living cultures. Too often, Indigenous histories are spoken about in the past tense, denying their continued presence and the ongoing struggles for rights, health, and self-determination. By recognizing this, I commit to challenging the systems of oppression that have displaced Indigenous people from their lands and rights, particularly their rights to Health, Occupational Justice, and Sovereignty.
I am committed to continuous learning and active allyship with the Syilx Nation, working to ensure their voices are heard and respected in public health and occupational therapy practices.
